Great chance of first time pass

Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round.

Failing a driving test is not just disappointing, it can be financially and emotionally draining to prepare for another attempt. Smart Drive UK is the place to go if you are after a driving school that has the best lessons to prepare you for a first time pass. We’re proud to have one of the best pass rates in the whole of the UK.

We are waiting by the phone for you.

What are the types of cars available for people like me?

We currently have an array of manual cars you can chose to learn in, and so the choice is completely down to you. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision.

Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?

Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. There is nothing wrong with this, as it makes sense to understand how a car works before you get into the driver’s seat.

One thing we have learnt in our experience here at Smart Drive UK, however, is that combining theoretical and practical training is always the best bet. With this, you can immediately see how the things you have learnt in theory can work in practice. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.

What is the length of time for each lesson?

We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. Want a quicker or slower training schedule? Call us right away to discuss your options.

How often should I have my driving lessons?

We are well aware that your schedule is likely different from everyone else’s. However, if you can get at least two hours of driving training every week, it will be sufficient. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. Such as back to back trainings each day, that will get you prepared for your driving test in shorter time. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?

Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. This is not only understandable, but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. It could also be that you have a new car and want to get familiar with it. Regardless of what your motive might be, Smart Drive UK can deliver driving lessons in your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.

Can I have more than one lesson a week?

If your schedule permits for more than one driving lesson per week, you are welcome to take the opportunity. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If you prefer a shorter training and practice programme that involves multiple driving lessons every week, we can arrange it. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

Make a booking for your test

How do I book a test?

First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? Don’t worry, our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be available to guide you through every stage of the process.

What is the duration of the tests?

The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. You will only have to spare about 40 minutes to complete the driving test.

It’s test day, now what?

After showing your provisional license and theory test certificate, you’ll need to prove that you have good eyesight by reading the number of a license plate some distance away. Upon passing the step, a series of show and tell questions will follow, aimed at testing your knowledge. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.

Post-Test

Getting your full driving license

Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
