One of the highest first time pass rates
Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. It is quite possible that some will fail, but a lot more will pass. In reality, there is statistical evidence to show that the first test is the one you will most likely pass. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Ward-End, because we have developed a curriculum that ensures an even higher chance of a first time pass. We are delighted with the fact that we have some of the best pass rates in the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Manual and automatic cars are equally popular across the UK, and your choice is completely to your wishes. Not sure which option to go with? We have expert advisers on hand to help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on your practical driving lessons until you have passed your theory test. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This combination means you can quickly see how the theoretical concepts are applicable in real life. In addition, someone that is already experienced in driving lessons will have a higher chance of success when it is time for the theory test.
What is the duration of each lesson?
You probably combine a variety of activities over your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take to complete a lesson. The duration of each lesson depends on your aptitude, and the instructor assigned to you. However, our skilled instructors, working with a properly planned course outline, ensure that you will spend only two hours on average on each task. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. Such as back to back trainings each day, that will get you prepared for your driving test in shorter time. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Many individuals prefer driving lessons being received in their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. One of our instructors will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driving lessons, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If you want a sped up training programme that consists of multiple lessons every week, we’ve got you covered. Our aim is to have you master driving at your own pace and be ready to ace your driving test the first time you take it. Our impressive first time pass rate is a clear sign of our capability to make you a roadworthy driver within your preferred time frame.

Manual Driving Lessons
Are you interested in manual driving lessons? Then look no further. Our experienced and professional instructors at Smart Drive UK make learning to drive manual not just easy, but also enjoyable. Our instructors know what they’re doing, and will take time and be patient when teaching you how manual vehicles work. During your manual driving lesson, you’ll be taught how to expertly manoeuvre through traffic, safely change gears, and properly work the clutch. A major benefit of learning to drive a manual vehicle is you don’t have to learn to drive an automatic afterwards. This is because our manual training programme covers both types.
What is Pass Plus?
The Pass Plus scheme is targeted at drivers in the UK who have recently successfully passed their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. While your initial training familiarises you with major road conditions, Pass Plus training will let you experience the roads outside your immediate vicinity first hand. Interested in more information? Call us now for more on our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving test is the Hazard Perception Test. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Responding appropriately to the developing hazard will determine if you pass the test. To ensure you progress to the practical driving test at the DVLA, we offer our students comprehensive preparation for the Hazard Perception test, which is a precursor. Our trainers will guide you with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, to fully prepare you on what to expect.

Required tests you must pass before you are issued your license
Theory Test Practice
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Practice matters, so we offer mock theory test practice ahead of the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.
Driving Test Ward-End
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. The hundreds of customers who have used our service and passed the test the first time provide sufficient evidence that our courses are designed to deliver results.
Booking your Test
What is the process of booking a test like?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long are the tests?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. The actual driving test takes an average of 40 minutes to complete.
It’s test day, now what?
First, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license, after which you will be required to read the number of a license plate some metres away, as a way to test your eyesight. Upon completion of this stage, you will be tested on your knowledge based on how you answer a couple of show and tell questions. After this, the examiner will test your ability to reverse a car and drive on different kinds of roads in a safe and effective manner. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
So you have completed the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. Now, you can apply for a full driving license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Your driving license should get to you no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. At Smart Drive UK, we are always available to guide you through the process up until you receive your driving license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
