One of the highest first time pass rates
If you are like most learner drivers, then you probably believe that it is normal to fail a driving test the first time. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. It’s been statistically proven that you actually stand a better chance of passing your driving test the first time round. When you fail a test, the emotional and financial commitment that went into the process makes it all the more disappointing. If you want to get the training that truly prepares you for a first time pass, Smart Drive UK is the place to be. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for people like me?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. You will have the freedom to choose what car you’d like to learn in, as we have both manual and automatic cars. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
You will generally be advised to hold on your practical driving lessons until you have passed your theory test. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. There is also a higher chance of success with your theory test when you have started with your driving lessons.
What is the duration of each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The duration of each lesson is dependent on the teacher, as well as how fast you assimilate information. With our system of training, and the way we have structured our courses, however, you can expect to spend around two hours in a session. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. However, it is best if a learner driver gets at least two hours of driving training every week. Depending on your situation, you can decide to keep this schedule. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. No matter what type of schedule you have, we can arrange something suitable for you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. This is understandable, and may even be a great idea if you intend on using your own car during your driving test. It’s also possible that you just got the car and are looking to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
We can provide you multiple lessons per week if your busy schedule permits it. This is possible thanks to our accommodating flexible and fixed schedules at Smart Drive UK. If your plan is to speed up the learning process by having multiple lessons in a week, we can arrange that. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. Our first time pass rate is stellar, which means you are in good hands regardless of the training programme you opt for.

What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is targeted to benefit UK drivers who have just recently passed their driving test. A lot of new drivers lack the confidence to drive on roads with actual traffic. Fortunately, once your driving test has been passed, Smart Drive UK can be there for you by providing you everything you need to be a safe and confident driver on any road. While your initial training familiarises you with major road conditions, Pass Plus training will let you experience the roads outside your immediate vicinity first hand. Would you like to find out more? Call us to find out more about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
One of the tests you’ll have to undergo before passing the UK driving test is the Hazard Perception Test. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. Your reactions are what determine whether you pass or fail. We have the expertise and materials at Smart Drive UK to ensure you pass your Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. After practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, you’ll be more than prepared for the test.

Get your license after passing these tests
Mock theory test
If you’re worried about passing your driving test, don’t be, as we’ve made it easy for you. At Smart Drive UK, our mock theory test practice is tailored to the DVLA driving exam. As long as you can pass this, you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which is required before you can take the actual theory test.
Buckland-End driving test
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. We have little doubt that you will be able to ace the test after completing one of our driving courses. With the high pass rate amongst hundreds of our customers, you can see why we are so confident.
Booking your driving test
What do I have to do to book a test?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. We recommend this because you may end up having to pay more if you use third-party websites. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Not clear enough? You don’t have to worry too much, because our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be on hand to guide you through it all.
How long are the tests?
There are five parts to the practical driving test, including independent driving, vehicle reversing, an eyesight check, safety questions, and driving ability. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
What can I expect on test day?
Once you have showed your provisional license and theory test certificate, you will be asked to read the digits of a license plate a few feet away to prove you have good eyesight. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. In its entirety, the driving test should not take more than 40 minutes or so. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.
Post-Test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. This is what qualifies you to apply for a full driving license. The DVLA will process your license after receiving the results from your examiner. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
