Do you offer the flexibility of pick up at my specific chosen location?
If you want a driving school that affords you the convenience your busy schedule needs, then look no further. As one of the value added services we offer, we make sure that the meetup venue isn’t set in stone, allowing us to pick you up anywhere you may be, and drop you off somewhere else. We understand the need for you to only want to focus on driving training, instead of how to get to the training location and back, so we are able to, for instance, pick you up at school and drop you off at home after the session. First time pass almost guaranteed
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. In fact, according to statistics, you have a higher chance of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. Smart Drive UK is one of the leading names in the driving school niche in Maidstone, because we have developed a curriculum that ensures an even higher chance of a first time pass. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?
We have students who only want to learn how to drive in automatic vehicles, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). We are waiting by the phone for you.
Should I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Additionally, starting your driving lessons will help you better prepare for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
Many people have a lot to do to make up their day, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to know how long each lesson will take. The length of time spent on each lesson will depend on your learning ability, and the teaching methods deployed by the instructor. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. If you’d like a faster instruction programme, get in touch with us to discuss your preferences.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. Nonetheless, if you are a learner driver, at least two hours of driving training per week can be very beneficial. You can continue with this schedule if you prefer it. Or we could help you arrange a more flexible schedule that better suits your needs. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Some individuals are more comfortable receiving driving lessons in their own car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your reason, Smart Drive UK can prepare you for your driving test with your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. Our instructors will need to inspect the car to check for valid registration, and may be required to notify your insurance company that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If your schedule allows for more than one lesson a week, then there’s no reason not to take advantage. Our Smart Drive UK fixed and flexible schedule plans can be personalised to suit even the busiest individual’s schedule. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. Our priority is to provide you the training you need at your preferred pace, and have you prepared to ace the driving test the first time. Our impressive first time pass rate is a clear sign of our capability to make you a roadworthy driver within your preferred time frame.

What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a UK scheme targeted at new drivers who’ve recently passed their driving test. Several new drivers shy away from driving on busy roads due to a lack of confidence. But Smart Drive UK can help you build up the confidence you need to become a master of the road once you pass your driving test. While your initial training familiarises you with major road conditions, Pass Plus training will let you experience the roads outside your immediate vicinity first hand. Interested in more information? Call us to find out more about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. The test is mandatory and will determine if you are qualified for a full driver’s license During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the test. At Smart Drive UK, we make sure every one of our learner drivers are put through their paces in preparation for the Hazard Perception Test, which is a precursor to the practical driving test at the DVLA. After practicing with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, you’ll be more than prepared for the test.

Increase your chances of passing the DVLA test
Don’t fret about acing your driving test, as we have a solution to make it easier for you. Smart Drive UK makes provisions for mock theory test practice modelled after the DVLA driving exam. Passing our practice test means you can pass the DVLA theory practice test, which comes before the actual theory test.

The level of expertise with which we deliver our driving courses ensures that you’ll be able to pass the test after taking any of our driving courses. So many of our customers have passed the test the first time that we are confident you can achieve similar results.
Make a booking for your test
How do I go about booking a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. You are required to pass the theory test and hazard perception test before you can book the driving test. Can’t quite wrap your head around it? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. The process is the same for both manual and automatic transmission. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
It’s test day, now what?
The first stage will test your eyesight by making you read from a number plate, but before that, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license. Once you have passed through this stage, the examiner will test your knowledge by asking a number of show and tell questions. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
After the test
What happens before you get your full driving license?
Well done on getting through your practical driving test. You can now proceed to the next step, which is to apply for a proper driving license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. Our job is only complete when you are officially a qualified and licensed driver.
